Brody Neuenschwander was born in 1958 and grew up in Houston, Texas. He now currently lives in Bruges, Belgium with his wife, Nadine Le Bacq and their daughter Clara. Brody Neuenschwander is best known for his work with calligraphy. He has worked with his calligraphy on paper and in film and video. Peter Greenaway asked Brody to make live-action calligraphy for his film “Prospero’s Book”. This challenge caused Brody to look at calligraphy and understand it not just linguistically but visually as well. Ever since this, he has been influenced by Chinese and Arabic calligraphy. Neuenschwander has taught throughout Europe, Japan and the US including the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Brody still continues his studies in Arabic and Chinese calligraphy.
